Aaron is a founding member of Guidehop and its first guide. He is an expert on Austin’s outdoor offerings and is willing to give you the keys to his city. He finds adventure in places where others see none, and can discover more about an area’s outdoors in a single week than others find in a lifetime. Aaron is a seasoned world traveler who has been to over 30 countries, mostly via hitchhiking and other forms of ultra-cheap travel. He is passionate about sharing his way of life and bringing people along with him, whether through organizing a massive hitchhiking race from Texas to North Carolina, hosting an island camp out, or convincing his friends to start a scooter gang. Aaron holds the record for the longest field goal ever in the Unicycle Football League where he is a two-time national champion with his team the Hot Dogs. When he’s not traveling, Aaron can be found playing ping pong and teaching Speech at a local high school.

I only date Aaron for the adventure—caving, kayaking, cliff jumping, tandem biking, moped riding, rock hopping, hitchhiking, frisbee golfing, camping, night hiking, glow-in-the-dark ultimate frisbee, bonfires, sliding down waterfalls, unicycle football—everyone knows these are essential elements of any successful relationship.
I have known Aaron all his life and am still being amazed at his creativity and ability to see what others do not. He can take you places you’ve never been while doing so safely and thriftily. He truly finds joy in life. You will find joy and adventure with Aaron.
I’ve been friends with Aaron for a couple of years and he is easily the most active, adventure-seeking person I know. Aaron is the poster boy for a GuideHop guide: he’s passionate about the activities he guides, he’s an excellent instructor and experienced guide, and he’s just a good, down-to-earth guy that loves meeting new people and showing them his city. I highly recommend you go on one of Aaron’s (very unique and fun!) activities.
Aaron is a very energetic and extraverted person. he is able to talk or communicate with any nationality from around the world (just look at the pictures). He is always looking for adventure wherever he goes, or plans on going, to include getting there with spending as little a possible while doing it. He is responsible, and knows the limits (whatever they may be). You will be amazed at the things he can find to do when you think there is nothing going on around you. If you are looking for adventure, then you have found your match. Just remember, be careful what you ask for. Aaron will take you to the limit and you will enjoy it for a lifetime.
I met Aaron in college about 6 years ago in a place that didn’t seem like there was much to do or many places to have fun. However Aaron was always discovering somewhere new to take his friends whether it was canoeing down the creek, unicycling around town, mopeding to abandoned lighthouses, hitch hiking to get out of town, or rafting across a pond to uniquely experience the town zoo. I always felt safe going with him even when I had no idea where we were headed. I wouldn’t hesitate to let Aaron take me on an excursion around Austin. You will experience things you never would have otherwise and I know it would be a trip to remember.
I met Aaron over two years ago while pedicabing in Austin, Texas. Since then we have been on many adventure, not only around Austin but all over the states. Weither it be hitchhiking from Texas to North Carolina for camping, cliff jumping, or rock hopping, or watching the last space shuttle launch from an abandon sail boat I always have a great time. Aaron’s personality will make you feel safe, comfortable, & like your hanging out with one of your best friends.
Aaron has a gift for relating to people and being hospitable. He is an excellent communicator and thorough guide. I have felt safe and well-prepared when adventuring with him. His enthusiasm is contagious! What a great guide!
Aaron’s a great travel guide. He’s taken me on several moped rides around Austin and told me all his adventures hitchhiking and globe trotting. If there’s someone better that can guide you to an outdoor adventure, I ain’t met em. Once, when camping on an island with Aaron’s friends, I asked everyone how they knew Aaron. I get answers like I met him at the running of the bulls, or I took him sailing in the Keys. Truly and outdoor enthusiast.
Aaron Bell is a worldwide traveler who has worn his feet (and unicycle) off the beaten path. He took his first walkabout to NYC over ten years ago and hasn’t stopped since. I’ve known him for ove five years and during that time he’s been more places that I know. He’s both knowledgable of hidden gems amongst the hill country and how to safely access them. Very personable and genuinely interested in sharing his discoveries with others. Having Aaron show you around on an excursion is something that that will make a lasting impression and you’ll learn quite a bit, too.
I have known Aaron for several years. His story is so remarkable that it begs the question "is this guy for real?" I can tell you that he is real and he is a "down-to-earth" kind of guy. Aaron has a good work ethic and that transfers into his willingness to help you have a unique experience. If you are in the Austin area and thinking about giving Guidehop a try, you won’t be disappointed with Aaron.
